Colin Hicks – “Bert”
Bert turned 70 years young on the 19th of March and had a lovely surprise from a landowner in Ararat. Our crew were busy installing a much-needed water pipeline through a property near Ararat on the morning of Bert’s birthday when the landowner heard about his milestone. That afternoon, she returned with a plate full of birthday cupcakes, complete with CAT excavator decorations.
Bert was first employed by Mitchell’s some 20 years ago, starting on our Cleveland trenchers, trained by the one and only Milan Sich. When Bert returned to Mitchell’s some years later, we’re sure he was happy to see our new Wolfe trenchers and their air-conditioned cabins added to the fleet.
Happy birthday, Bert, and all the best for many more years (and kilometres of trenches) to come!
Kristin Briggs
Kristin will likely kill me for posting this, but we couldn’t go past celebrating her 50th birthday on April 13th. Apart from Wayne himself, Kristin is Mitchell’s longest-serving employee – likely not by choice at first, but certainly proven beyond doubt to be an integral part of Mitchell Water and its success story.
As with many long-termers, wearing many hats over the years was a necessity. From Project Admin to Traffic Controller, to Enviro Manager, Cultural Heritage Manager, and Community and Stakeholder Manager – Kristin has done it all, and done it extremely well.
Happy birthday, Kriso! The whole team is truly grateful for your major role in Mitchell’s success. Enjoy your celebrations!
Jeremy Buttriss
A very big happy birthday to Jeremy, who turns the big 5-0 on the 28th of April. Joining the QLD crew three years ago, Butters’ skills in the live dig space have been extremely valuable and appreciated by the team, and we look forward to celebrating his milestone together on site.
I’m sure you’d prefer to celebrate with a round of 18 holes, Butters, but we’ll do our best to make it memorable!

Another 50th birthday to celebrate – happy birthday, Crofty! Turning the big five-oh on the 16th of April, and how good is it to have an extended RnR break to celebrate in style. We hope you enjoy your family time and celebrations.

Keeping the 50th trend going, Tricia celebrates her milestone birthday on the 6th of May. Although not with us long, she has slotted into the QA team seamlessly and is proving to be a fantastic addition to Mitchell’s. Happy 50th!
Jakai Duff
Ah, to be 21 again – lucky for some, and lucky for Jakai, who reaches this milestone on June 7th. Joining Clint’s team a year ago, “TinTin” has been a great addition, and we hope he enjoys celebrating with family and friends. Happy 21st!
